Asia. Ionia. Hemihecte (1/12 Stater) ca. 600-550 BC, uncertain mint. Electrum 1.13 g.; 7.7 mm.
Obverse: Head of lion right, [pellet below] // Reverse: Incuse geometric shape, pellet in the centre of a square.

Very rare. Our specimen is among the finest known. Lydo-Milesian standard. SNG Kayhan 1546 corr. (pellet not noted). Traité I 48A = B.V. Head, "Electrum Coins and their Specific Gravity" in NC 1887, 16 (same die and punch); CNG 78, lot 808 (same die and punch); Lanz 148, lot 48.
