Obverse: Bust of Theodosius II, helmeted, pearl-diademed, cuirassed, spear pointing forward, shield with horseman and enemy motif. Obverse caption: D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG //
Reverse: Roma, helmeted, draped, and Constantinopolis, helmeted, draped, enthroned, facing front, heads turned toward one another, holding sceptres in outer hands and supporting shield inscribed VOT/XV/MVL/XX between them; prow beneath right foot of Constantinopolis; star in left field. Reverse caption: GLORIA - REI - PVBLICAE

Multiple scratches on the observe in front of the portrait, probably due to cleaning. Behind it, a cross, possibly graffiti. Cleaning has given the fields an artificial lustrous appearance. Remains of soil are visible on the reverse in the interstices of the engravings. Almost uncirculated AU 55-58

Rare bust. A Solidus of superb quality! Remarkable engraving, very delicate giving superb representations. The shield with the horseman are clearly visible and the clothes are engraved with great precision. A magnificent specimen.
