Roman Empire, Domitian, 81-96, Aureus 82, Rome, very rare

Roman Empire. Domitian, 81-96. Aureus 82 Rome. Gold 7.08 g.; 19 mm.
Obverse: Laureate head of Domitian right. Obverse caption:  IMP CAES DOMITIANVS AVG P M //
Reverse: Helmeted and draped bust of Minerva left, wearing aegis and holding sceptre. Reverse caption: TR POT IMP II COS VIII DES VIIII PP

RIC: 137.

Very rare Aureus, with beautiful portraits! Unfortunately, it appears to have been worn as jewellery in the past, with two marks on the edge, at 8 and 9h on the observe, and on the reverse, at 8h, having pushed the metal back at the level of the beginning of the legend. Although it has been cleaned, there are numerous scratches on both sides, probably due to the fact that it has been worn as jewellery. We also note a mark on the M at the end of the observe caption. Extremely fine EF 40-45
