Very fine specimen, with a superb patina, struck on a very wide flan, with all the grenetis on the obverse and the reverse, with many details on the portrait as on the engraving of Jupiter.

An extremely rare specimen, with a variety not mentioned in the RIC (RIC V Diocletian 142a), with the head of Diocletian, without his drapery or his cuirass. Only a few specimens are known, around ten of this variety have been seen in sales over the last 10 years and 4 examples of this variety are known in public collections (Vienna, Berlin, British Museum and ANS).
