Comment

A magnificent and very rare example of the Quarter Staters attributed to the Treveri, a Celtic tribe located in Gaul-Belgium.

This type, first attributed to the Aulerques Cénomans (from the Le Mans region), follows Armorican types, the Staters with the charioteer on an androcephalic horse. Here, however, the charioteer has disappeared in favour of an angular form. This coin is remarkable for its style and provenance.
