Obverse: Helmeted bust of Virtus right; VIRTVS III VIR around // Reverse: The consul Manius Aquillius standing facing, holding shield and raising slumped Sicilian by the arm; MN AQVIL upwards to right, MN•F MN N• downwards to left, SICIL in exergue.

This coin type commemorates the suppression of the slave revolt in Sicily by the moneyers grandfather Manius Aquillius (101 BC). Manius Aquillius was subsequently awarded a Triumph (100 BC).
