Roman Republic. P. Accoleius Lariscolus. Denarius 43 BC, Rome. Silver 3.82 g.; 20 mm.

Reverse: Triple cult statue of Diana Nemorensis (Diana, Hecate and Selene), facing; behind, cypress grove.

Variety of the highest rarity, with long hair, only two specimens appear to have been seen in sales over the last 20 years. The design on the reverse depicts the landscape behind the ancient temple of Diana near Lake Nemi, which is still visible today and is made up of conifers. The specimen we offer for sale is particularly beautiful and covered with a splendid iridescent cabinet patina with bright blue, yellow and red tones.
