Our specimen is covered with a pleasant gray patina and despite some flats on the highest reliefs, is in an admirable state of preservation.
We can see some minor double-strike (visible at the level of the horse's head or legs). There are small die breaks in the legend on the reverse.

This medal, sometimes described as a Thaler or Schautaler, was struck during a festival given in Dresden, on the occasion of the meeting of the Order of the Garter, on April 23, 1678, St. George's Day.
