Sicily. Carthaginians. Tetradrachm ca. 350-300 BC, Lilybaion. Silver 17.14 g.; 26.5 mm.
Obverse: Charioteer driving fast quadriga to right, holding kentron in extended right hand above horses, and reins in left, above, Nike flying left, crowning charioteer with wreath held in both hands. In exergue, [R]ŠMLQ[RT] (R'smlqrt in Punic, ‘Cape of Melkart’) //
Reverse: Head of Tanit (or Persephone / Arethousa) right, wearing wreath of grain ears, triple-pendant earring, and pearled necklace; four dolphins around, all facing inwards. Reverse caption: RŠMLQRT

Siculo-Punic issue for this Tetradrachm of an excellent quality. The four dolphins are visible but only the one before the nose is fully visible. Very good condition, with a beautiful grey cabinet patina; a remarkable coin!
