ROMAN EMPIRE. Gordian III, 238-244 AD. Sestertius (20,34 g). Struck 241-243 AD, Rome. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG. Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from behind // IOVIS STATORI. S C across field. Jupiter standing front, head right, holding sceptre in right hand, cradling thunderbolt in left arm.
