Roman Empire. Octavian as Augustus, 27 BC - AD 14. L. Caninius Gallus, moneyer. AR-Denarius (3.74 g). Rome mint, 12 BC.
Obverse: AVGVSTVS, bare head to right // Reverse: L CANINIVS GALLVS III VIR, long-haired, bearded and cloaked Barbarian kneeling to right, offering up vexillum and extending hand below left knee.

A nice example, boldly struck. A strong banker's mark at nine o’clock on the obverse, otherwise EF.
